About how muchis a 50 hour service at a dealer.
How much if I buy the necessary oils, etc. and do it myself. I realize the problem of changing the transmission oil. Think I would like the dealer to do this one.

I do not know how much the 50 hour service costs at the dealer but this service is very easy for you to complete yourself.
The 50 hour service is simple, follow your Operator's Manual instructions. Parts required are:4.2 quarts/engine oil(price depends on your choice of oil),oil filter($10.44),fuel filter($2.67),grease cartridge($1.65),hydraulic filter(I can't find the receipt, but cost was minimal),and 134D hydraulic oil to replace oil lost in filter change($1.90/qt-I used less than two quarts). All parts were purchased from New Holland dealer. Note: The trans. oil is not changed at this service(gear or HST). The remainder of the service is checking and adjusting(again, follow Operator's manual instructions and purchase the basic hand tools as needed if you don't have them already).
The only difference between the HST 4X4 and the 9x3 gear 4x4 is that you must also change the HST flter(no fluid change required - only replace what was lost when changing the filter).
Trans. oil change is only required every 300 hours(gear or HST).
Primary Air Cleaner Element may need to be changed(should be changed seasonally), but probably just needs cleaning. Note: Safety Air Filter Element should be inspected/cleaned and should be replaced with every third Primary element or 1000 hours. I have run my TC30 in very dusty conditions and my air filter just needed cleaning.
This service is inexpensive to do yourself and will give you an even greater appreciation of the thoughtful design and simple maintenance on this machine. ....

Yes, I changed the fuel filter ($2.67). I also bought a couple of spare fuel filters(the price is right). The fuel filter change requires no tools. After the filter is changed you will need to bleed air from the fuel system - a very simple operation.Simply open the bleed screw at the pump (13mm wrench required)until air-free fuel flows out. Then close the bleed screw - all done.
I think you will find it very satisfying to service your own tractor. Enjoy. ....

It's a great time to see how things look and are wearing. To spray a little WD-40 on the linkage joints and pivots will make everything work a little easier. Take a good look and feel of everything while on a creeper underneath it. It will help you later! ....

Are you talking about the 3PH joints?
I have a lot of dust that gathers on those joints when I use WD 40 or other grease types on them. I wish there was some kind of a rubber boot that would fit over them and keep the dirt off the joints. ....
